From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot privacy data omitted flying a Mooney M20R N532WM, was attempting to land on runway 04 at warren/sugarbush airport 0B7 in Vermont at approximately 1130 hours. The pilot experienced crosswinds, and loss of lift approximately 10 feet above airport runway on short final, causing the aircraft to impact the runway hard. The pilot did not land the aircraft. The pilot initiated an immediate "go-around". The pilot was informed by airport ground personnel at warren/sugarbush airport (via radio) that he had lost the aircraft left landing gear. The pilot had the aircraft flaps partially extended for landing, resulting in damage to the left flap upon impact. The pilot decided to proceed to Lebanon airport, Lebanon new hampshire, to do a possible gear up landing, the airport was equipped with emergency equipment, and a control tower. The pilot was advised by his mechanic and another pilot (via cell phone) to perform a power off gear up landing. The pilot did perform a power off gear up landing on runway 36, coming to rest about 400 feet down the runway just to the right of centerline. The pilot had no apparent injuries, and departed the aircraft safely. Pilot was reexamined.
