From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot approached Carson City airport from the NE. During the descent and left turn to the traffic pattern to runway 27 he was seen on a high approach with high power setting on final. The airplane was drifting to the right of runway near taxiway. Engines were running rough, then smoothed out near end of runway. The pilot executed a go-around and started a left turn. In the turn the aircraft was seen to enter a spin to the left. It made one and a half turns, impacted the ground and burst into flames. The pilot was killed on impact and the airplane was destroyed.
