From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 7/26/04, N2699Y, a SA-227-AC, had an engine failure on the LH engine. The aircraft chip detector light came on and sustained a sudden loss of engine oil pressure on the LH engine. The pilot proceeded to shutdown and feathered the engine. The pilot notified tower and landed to evv, which was its last destination. Emergency crew was dispatched due to a possible overheat of the aircraft brakes. The aircraft landed without any incidents. Mr. Bohnert, director of maintenance, stated that the aircraft had bearing material in the chip detector. The aircraft had a gearbox overhaul done 200 hrs ago. There will be a possible engine change at tri-state aero at evv. A service difficulty report will be filled and turned in to the operator's local FSDO. Injury summary not known by ASI.
