From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) privacy data omitted investigation disclosed the aircraft skidded onto the main landing gear for approximately 150 feet prior to losing directional control and departing the runway surface 375 feet from the end of runway 28 at the International Peace Garden Airport, ND. The aircraft ground looped to the left after landing coming to rest on a heading of 090 and 20 feet north of the runway. The canadian commercial pilot and passenger did not receive any injuries. The homebuilt aircraft, a murphy rebel, sustained substantial damage to the empennage which was crushed upwards forward of the horizontal stabilizer, buckling the fuselage and tearing skin. The manufacturer's data indicates a landing distance of 400 feet. The pilot apparently landed long with excess speed producing a loss of directional control.
