From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) While making an approach into 1V6 Canon City, CO, about 15 feet from touchdown, a strong gust of wind came out of the southwest and blew the aircraft off centerline with right wing high. The pilot leveled the aircraft, but his RPM was too slow for a go-around and he landed the aircraft off the runway at 20 degrees. The aircraft was slowing when it struck a berm. The aircraft's prop was damaged when it encountered the berm off to the left of the runway and the aircraft jumped the berm and damaged the undercarriage and the landing gear. Aircraft came to stop and the pilot exited and was unharmed. Estimated cost of repair minus prop and engine $4,500 of the total cost of the aircraft $275,000.
