From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) In a telephone interview, the pilot stated that on approach for landing at Oceanside, CA (L32), he noticed an aircraft on the runway and executed a go-around. He then discovered that he was at the carlsbad airport (crq) and not Oceanside. He was advised by the tower at carlsbad that the Oceanside airport was 4 miles north. He put the landing gear up and proceeded to the Oceanside airport. On approach for landing at that airport, he forgot to put the gear down and landed gear up with no injuries.
