From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Instructor and student were on a training flight in 736RE, a Cessna R182, it was dusk and the weather was VFR. With the intention to practice the NDB rwy 23 approach to doylestown (dyl), they incorrectly tracked outbound from the yardley VOR on the 270 degree radial rather than the 307 degree radial as published. This mistake went unnoticed and resulted in N736RE being located in the area of Willow Grove naval air station which was believed to be doylestown. Willow Grove tower unsuccessfully tried to communicate with N736RE on the radio and with light gun signals not to land, but the instructor and student did not see the light gun and still thinking they were at doylestown proceeded to enter the pattern and land. privacy data omitted
