What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Airman (sole occupant) departed phoenix regional airport (A39) for the 20 NM flight to chd. Winds were light and variable at A39, however ATIS reported winds at chd at 110 18 g 22. He stated during a phone conversation with me that he considered declaring an emergency and landing on cross taxiway however he decided to give it a try. I asked why he didn't consider returning to a 39 or proceeding to iwa, which has a runway 12. He stated "everything was at Chandler." He stated he touched down normally and as he slowed, the wind caught his airplane causing the left wing tip to strike the ground and eventually the airplane going up on its prop and ending up inverted. He called tower to advise he was ok and an airport vehicle removed the aircraft. There were no injuries.
