What happened

(-23) The personnal aboard the aircraft heard a loud explosion. The explosion, in accordance with the pilot in command was followed by a loss of power. Aircraft floats were deployed and the autorotation initiated. The helicopter landed hard in the Gulf Of Mexico and then sank in approximately 180 feet of water.

(-23) THE PERSONNAL ABOARD THE AIRCRAFT HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION. THE EXPLOSION, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PILOT IN COMMAND WAS FOLLOWED BY A LOSS OF POWER. AIRCRAFT FLOATS WERE DEPLOYED AND THE AUTOROTATION INITIATED. THE HELICOPTER LANDED HARD IN THE GULF OF MEXICO AND THEN SANK IN APPROXIMATELY 180 FEET OF WATER.
