From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot discovered dead battery when trying to start aircraft. He then tied down the tail, set the throttle to 1/4, and hand-propped the aircraft. It started, and as he was walking to the cockpit the tiedown rope broke. The aircraft moved forward, striking the pilot and knocking him down. The aircraft continued forward, striking a DA-20, hit a light pole causing the aircraft to turn around, hitting a tail of a CE-150, then striking a wing of an AA-1. The pilot then reached the aircraft and shut off the engine.
