From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Hawthorne fct forward FAA form 8020-9 informing this office of an incident occuring on 11/13/2004, involving an experimental (dyke delta) aircraft, N7DY that had the nose landing gear collapse and propeller strikes during landing. No injuries were reported by the two occupants. Tower cleared pilot for options (aircraft had landed and fueled earlier and had been in the pattern for most of the day per ATC). Per the owner/operator phone statement, the landing was smooth but when the nose gear made contact, heard a thump, nose gear collapsed causing the propeller to strike the ground and the aircraft began to skid. When the aircraft came to a stop, the operator, occupant (operator elected not to name) and airport personnel lifted the nose and secured the gear in the down position and moved it into the hangar of security aviation pending disposition of repairs. Aircraft sustained minor fiber glass damage to the underside but substantial damage to the propeller (which will require an engine overhaul and prop replacement). Per the owner/operator there has been no discussion on where and when this aircraft will be repaired.
