From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft was involved in a demonstration flight to a perspective buyer when this incident occurred. Aircraft was at approximately 5,000 feet, in a 30 degree left bank at 75 KIAS when the left canopy departed the airplane. During it's departure from the airplane, the canopy struck the left shoulder area of the passenger, ripped a nylon retaining strap from the composite fiber cockpit frame work, and then caused minor scratches along the left side of the fuselage in the vicinity of the painted aircraft numbers. No further damage was found to any flight control surface. The canopy lock/latch mechanism was still in the latched down position and within the door frame work. (-23 amendment) note: passenger received serious tendon damage to his left shoulder area.
