From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Desk audit: on December 19, 2004, at approximately 0002 eastern standard time, a Bombardier CL-600-2B19, N679BR, flight number 1227, conducted under 14 CFR part 121, by independence air, landed on runway 28L at Pittsburgh international airport (pit), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania after reporting they could not lower the flaps. The aircraft rescue fire fighting (ARFF) responded, however, were not utilized. The aircraft taxied back to the ramp without incident. Jett care maintenance performed a bite test of the flap electronic control unit (fecu), reset the system, and operationally checked the system and found no problems. The aircraft was configured for a ferry flight to Washington dulles (iad) for further troubleshooting. The mechanics at iad could not duplicate the failure, however, removed and replaced the fecu and again operationally checked the system for two hours without any indicated problems. A visual inspection of the left/right wing flap actuators and flex drive shafts for indications of moisture, damage, excessive grease with no problems being noted. The aircraft was returned to service. There were no injuries to the crew or passengers. The flight crew's actions or lack of actions did not contribute to this incident. This closed the investigation of this occurrence and no further action is required from this office.
