From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot departed on runway 1 at charles b. wheeler, Kansas City Downtown Airport, Kansas City, MO (kmkc). The pilot retracted the landing gear after lift-off at approximately 50 feet above the runway. The aircraft door came open and the passenger side shoulder harness fell outside the aircraft and blew against the side of the fuselage. The pilot determined that he had enough runway remaining and elected to reduce the power and land straight ahead. The pilot had failed to lower the landing gear prior to landing.
