From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) privacy data omitted on February 5, 2005, N74264, a Bellanca BL-1413-2 aircraft with a conventional landing gear, landed on runway 18R at the Carbondale/Southern Illinois Airport. The pilot reported that he made a normal touchdown on the main landing gear and as the aircraft decelerated and the tail wheel touched the surface of the runway, the aircraft veered to the left and exited the runway onto the adjacent grass. The aircraft struck a landing light for that runway and sustained left landing gear, and propeller damage as a result. No injuries to the pilot were reported.
