From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) While attempting to land at Seminole lake glider port, clermont, Florida, privacy data omitted the pilot of ASW-27, N661T, stated that he observed a motor glider on the runway. The pilot privacy data omitted continued to descend while keeping the motor glider in sight. The pilot privacy data omitted stated that he allowed his glider to get too low and attempted to apply full flaps to clear trees at the approach end of the runway. The pilot privacy data omitted further stated that he mistakenly pulled the spoiler handle instead of the flap handle, causing the glider to descend into the trees at the approach end of the runway. N661T was substantially damaged, and the pilot privacy data omitted the sole occupant of the glider, was not injured.
