From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The airman's competency is in question as his aircraft's engine experienced a power loss in-flight, the pilot declared an emergency, released his banner and accepted vectors for a landing at Charlotte Douglas international airport (kclt). The engine power returned and the landing was uneventful. The pilot taxied to the FBO, refueled his aircraft, checked all fuel for contamination and taxied out for departure. He initiated a takeoff roll on runway 23 and aborted the takeoff requesting runway 36R. The pilot then initiated his takeoff roll from 36R made an uneventful departure until about 2 nautical miles NE of clt when the engine had a complete power loss for the second time causing the pilot to make an emergency landing in a parking lot at a strip mall. Upon braking the aircraft struck a curbed island, hit a three foot diameter rock, nosed the aircraft over and struck a parked suv.
