From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On Sunday April 3, 2005 at approximately 12:45 CDT departed mckinney after obtaining ASOS for mckinney, and filing a VFR flight plan to Stephenville (sep) via decatur. Prior to arriving in Stephenville, obtained the local weather on the Stephenville ASOS frequency. On final had 20 degrees of flaps and airspeed was approximately 70 mph. Was a little high and fast on final and was making throttle and pitch corrections. Was pulling back slightly on the yoke when the rear wheels touched down but the plane porpoised and came off the ground. Was attempting to fly the plane just above the runway to allow it to settle back down on the runway when the damaging bounce occurred. Either the plane stalled, although the stall warning did not go off, or a gust of wind pushed the plane down. As the plane was still not on the ground, elected to abort the landing. Full power was administered and took off. Continued on the pattern, and landed normally and taxiied to parking. After landing noticed the nose wheel covering cracked only. Later took off and flew to ennis (F41) to refuel. Took off and landed normally in mckinney.
