From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On return flight from kfwa to kjan: during approach to Tupelo the engine stopped. Aircraft landed in field 1/2 mile short of runway off field. On scene investigation revealed no usable fuel remained on aircraft. Pilot stated there was a misunderstanding when fuel was requested at kfwa. Only 15 gallons received at kfwa. Pilot thought he had requested 30 gals (15 gals for each wing). Pilot discovered the fuel situation enroute to ktup. He still thought he had enough fuel to make Tupelo. Aircraft was substantially damaged and pilot received serious injury to his back.
