From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) A swearingen AS-26AT crashed and burned on landing. The pilot stated that just before the airplane touched down it turned right and the left wing lifted and the right main gear hit the ground. The right main gear collapsed and the airplane bounced back into the air. The airplane then hit the ground again at a right angle to the runway's centerline and the left main and nose gear broke off and the airplane came to a stop on the taxiway. The pilot and passenger exited the airplane through the exit window on the right side of the airplane. After exiting the aircraft and moving about 300 feet from the airplane it caught fire and burned. Witnesses said that the airplane was coming in fast and at a steep angle. Propeller strikes were found on the runway.
