What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) After landing, the pilot's taxi route required transit of a construction zone. Separate routes for vehicles and aircraft were established through this zone that required aircraft to take a new route and vehicles to take an existing route to the pilot's destination on the airport. A sign indicating which route to take was placed near the vehicle path. Icons of a car and an aircraft were depicted on the sign together with directional arrows that suggested a "y" intersection lay ahead. While taxiing through the contstruction zone in dusk to dark conditions the pilot interpreted the sign to indicate an intersection ahead where he would have to make a right turn. This resulted in his taking the route intended for vehicles. While taxiing along this route he hit an unlit obstacle with his right landing gear and the airplane nosed over.
