From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The Waller county sheriffs dept. Reported a PA-25, reg. N7220Z, has lost power and crashed in a field after hitting some power lines and a tree. The aircraft was located near the vicinity of the glider port (89TA), 12 miles nw of Waller, TX. The pilot explained he lost power at 3000 feet MSL, after towing his twelfth glider 3 miles west of the airfield, during his return to the field. He stated that he felt his altitude was too high as he approached the field, and intended to perform a 360 degree right turn to lose altitude. The aircraft was at 1000 feet AGL as he lost control of the aircraft in what he described as a stall or near-spin. He recovered the aircraft at low altitude just as he ws hitting the power lines and tree during the landing. Upon examination of the aircraft, the fuel tank was checked for any evidence of fuel, but none was found.
