From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On June 10, 2005, at approximately 2200 hours, a Cessna 152, N47962, crashed while attempting to take off from Mcgehee Catfish Restaurant (T40). The airport is sw of the city of Marietta, OK, approximately 5 miles west of I-35. The airport is within seeing distance of the red river. The pilot stated he was attempting to do a soft field take off from T40 to the north. The operator had one passenger on board, his wife. The aircraft drifted left of the center line. Just north of the road that runs across the airfield, the aircraft struck a runway light on the left edge of the runway. The aircraft continued on the left edge of the grass runway hitting the next runway light as well. At this time the left wing started catching the brush on the edge of the runway. As the aircraft continued down the runway it continued to drift to the left. As the aircraft left the runway you could see the tire tracks in the grass, the propeller cut the top out of a small tree, then it went down the embankment striking a larger tree. It appears to have bounced off of the larger trees and spun around so the nose of the aircraft was pointed up to the embankment. As it came to a rest the tail bent at a 70 degree angle to the left of the aircraft center line.

As the FAA filed it
