From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot (alone) was east bound into dvt. At twelve (12) miles and 3500-4000 (AGL) from dvt the pilot smelled fuel and elected to land in the desert, after the engine quit. The pilot notified dvt of the emergency and could not make the airport. The pilot selected a "wash" and made a normal landing. However, the roll-out was on rocky terrain. The pilot did not receive any injuries. There was no post-event fire. The pilot called the ntsb-lax ("zoe") and notifed her of the incident, and the a/c was released to the owner/pilot.
