From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) According to the pilot's statement, the aircraft lifted off runway 35 at approximately midpoint, rose to about 35 feet, and failed to continue to climb. Wind was variable, 4 to 8 knots, approximately 15 to 30 degrees left of centerline. The aircraft struck the trees at the end of the runway, approximately 10 feet from the top. The aircraft may have encountered a downdraft from the crosswind coming over the trees on the west side of the runway. The pilot also stated that the aircraft experienced no mechanical problems on takeoff, and that the engine was operating normally.
