From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On a VFR flight from loris, SC (5J9) to columbus county NC airport (cpc) to obtain fuel, the pilot of CE-152, N94540, made successful forced landing in farmer's field due to fuel exhaustion. After obtaining aviation fuel at columbus county airport, and refueling, pilot made unsuccessful takeoff attempt from farmer's field. Video of the event shows that improper soft field takeoff techniques may have been used. Pilot aborted takeoff, but while trying to turn around, the left wing contacted a tree, the aircraft veered into a ditch, damaging the wing leading edge and prop dome.
