From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Enroute from Topeka, KS (foe) enroute to tuscaloosa, al (tcl) and during climb through FL230 or FL240 toward assigned altitude of FL270, a moderate amount of smoke began to appear in the cockpit and cabin. The crew notified ATC, declared an emergency, and requested lower altitude. The co-pilot initiated the checklist for environmental smoke. When RH was selected on the pressure source selector the smoke gradually began to dissipate. When le was selected on the pressure source selector smoke began to appear again. The RH position was immediately selected again. The smoke then cleared and no additional smoke occurred during the remainder of the flight. The aircraft returned to foe and landed without incident. There was no indication of ill effects from the smoke with regard to the crew or passengers.
