From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During descent into a field that was being sprayed the aircraft encountered turbulence and settled into the top wire of a 3 string power line causing the aircraft to slow and yaw sideways prior to releasing from the power line when a power pole broke off. The airspeed had decayed to a point where the pilot was unable to recover. The right main gear collapsed from side loading and the wing struck the ground followed by the left gear and wing collapsing. The engine broke free of the firewall when it impacted the ground causing the aircraft to spin 540 degrees and slid to a stop. No injuries other than a bruised forearm were reported. Minimal property damage had occurred but the aircraft had major damage to all of its components.

As the FAA filed it
