From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) While taking off from a very rough and non-maintained back country airstrip, the aircraft struck a mound of dirt possibly constructed by a wilderness animal of some sort. The mound of dirt and associated hole was hidden by tall grass and weeds. When the aircraft struck this obstruction, it was turned to the right and went into rocks and boulders that line the sides of the airstrip. The right wing struck a small tree. Damage to the right wing, landing gear and rudder was caused by hitting objects during attempt to stop the aircraft after it went off the runway.
