From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot was flying west of the Bonners Ferry, Idaho airport. He stated he wanted to show his passenger privacy data omitted the mountain lake they had backpacked into the weekend before the accident. He turned up a canyon and could not climb rising terrain. He contacted a tree and the aircraft spiraled into the ground. He was unconscious for about an hour. When he awoke he called the sheriff on his cell phone and gave them their location. The pilot spread an orange tarp out for the rescue party to see. He then attended to the passenger's needs.
