From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Airman departed the Anoka county airport (kane) for the purposes of flight testing his engine that has some recent work completed on it. He intended to remain the traffic pattern at kane while testing his engine. While on downwind for runway 09 for his first landing, the engine "missed" and the pilot noticed that his gas gauge indicated that he had very little fuel remaining in the fuel tank. The pilot began turning towards the runway for landing and also informed ATC that he needed to land immediately due to being fuel critical. The aircraft landed and while it was exiting the runway on the taxiway, the engine stopped due to fuel exhaustion.
