From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) After takeoff from pwk, aircraft experienced left engine failure. Pilot declared an emergency and attempted to land on runway 34. Before touch down the aircraft went into ground-effect and ballooned up. Immediately another attempt was made and the aircraft ballooned again. The pilot then applied power and attempted to do a go-around. The aircraft initially gained altitude but then settled and eventually sank and hit the roof of a building in an industrial area. The aircraft came to rest approximately one half mile from the end of the runway on top of a berm after hitting several small pine trees. The aircraft was substantially damaged on impact. There was no post accident fire and both the pilot and one passenger egressed the aircraft with only minor injuries.
