From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On August 07, this blanik L-23 was being towed to flight at 6MN9. After take-off roll the tow aircraft experienced an inability to generate sufficient power to maintain a successful tow operation. The tow aircraft then radioed pilot of blanik L-23. The blanik pilot reports hearing "I can't make, I can't make it" from the tower operator. With an available landing opportunity in sight the blanik L-23 pilot released the tether from the tow aircraft and landed in the pasture adjacent to 6MN9. Minimal damage to blanik L-23 could be observed. Damage primarily found on wing surface. Note: pilot of blanik L-23 is regarded as ancillary to the incident. Tow aircraft and operator are viewed as primary cause.
