From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Student pilot was performing a cross country flight when she experienced a rough running engine. After going through the check list of items to check and perform, she declared an emergency with norcal TRACON (nct) and landed at Tracy muni (tcy) without further incident. Maintenance from Tracy flight center did a preliminary inspection and found no anomalies. Since the student pilot was too upset to fly the aircraft onto its destination, reid hillview (rhv), an additional aircraft and pilot was dispatched to tcy and flew the aircraft back to rhv without further problems. I suspect, as does the pilot and all involved with this incident, that the problem was carb. Ice.

As the FAA filed it

ICE.
