From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot privacy data omitted was attempting to take off to the southwest from his Private grass strip located in Mcconnell, IL. During the takeoff run, just as the aircraft lifted off the runway the pilot privacy data omitted retarded the throttle and turned the aircraft to left into the corn field. The pilot privacy data omitted said the aircraft did not feel right and he felt the aircraft would not clear the embankment at the end of the runway. The left wing struck the corn at approximately four feet off the ground, this turned the aircraft around causing the right wing to strike the corn and the ground. Both wings sustained substantial damage and minor damage to the nose wheel pan. Aircraft had fuel in both wings, no fire after accident.
