From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) While performing an annual standardization flight check for the civil air patrol, the (PIC) pilot privacy data omitted executed a short field obstacle takeoff (to) per the request of the check pilot (cp) privacy data omitted approximately 2000 ft down the runway and 100-AGL the landing gear was retracted. The check pilot (cp) pulled the power back to idle to simulate an engine failure. The landing gear was immediately extended. Descent down to runway commenced and power was added and nose pitch was decreased at the request of (cp). Both the PIC and cp verbally confirmed that the landing gear was down and locked prior to touchdown. Upon touchdown, the aircraft bounced on the main wheels, then moved toward the left side of the runway striking a runway sidelight. The PIC distinctively remembers being conscious of keeping elevator back pressure so as to avoid prop strike to ground and/or stress to the nose gear. The check pilot (cp) took the controls and situated aircraft back to centerline while aircraft slowed to a taxi rollout. The aircraft was taxied to the ramp;inspection revealed 2 small puncture holes in the leading edge and lower skin puncture on the left horizontal stabi lizer.

As the FAA filed it

(-23) WHILE PERFORMING AN ANNUAL STANDARDIZATION FLIGHT CHECK FOR THE CIVIL AIR PATROL, THE (PIC) PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA^ EXECUTED A SHORT FIELD OBSTACLE TAKEOFF (TO) PER THE REQUEST OF THE CHECK PILOT (CP) ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ APPROXIMATELY 2000 FT DOWN THE RUNWAY AND 100-AGL THE LANDING GEAR WAS RETRACTED.
