From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot departed statesville, NC (svh) with one passenger onboard for flight to pilots home near Owensboro, KY to land at grass strip on his property. Upon landing pilot was unable to stop aircraft and hit a pine tree at the end of the strip. Aircraft recently had an annual inspection performed in which the main landing gear brakes and discs were replaced. Pilot stated that he failed to properly perform the recommended check out procedures to insure the brakes were properly "seated" after the maintenance was performed. Pilot stated that he had completed approximately 3 landings prior to this event, but only needed minimal braking action during these landings. Upon landing on the grass strip and needing full braking action, the brakes were unable to stop the aircraft.
