From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) While taxiing north bound in a non movement area the aircraft, a ryan navion collided with a pick up truck that was parked next to the taxiway. The aircraft was part of a flight of three of which the first two had already passed the pickup. The pilot stated that he could not judge the distance of his wing tip ot the pickup because of glare on his canopy. The driver of the pickup stated that he was parked and didn't have time to move before the third aircraft struck his windshield. Neither the pilot nor the driver sustained injuries. The pickup suffered a broken windshield and the aircraft sustained minor damage to the leading edge and tip of the left wing. This was originally classified as an occurrence by the vny FSDO. Later reports from the NTSB upgraded it to an accident.
