From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot privacy data omitted states that while practicing taxiing the tandem seat aircraft from the aft position, he "impulsively" decided to take-off from phillips field airport (MO23), California, Missouri. Shortly after take-off he noticed a nose high attitude which he tried to correct with full forward stick movement and flaperon trim. At this time a decision was made to return to MO23 and land. The pilot privacy data omitted states that while turning to base he "was still trying to trim the plane and lost attention to airspeed." Shortly thereafter, at about 400 feet AGL, the aircraft entered into an unrecoverable stall-spin situation, impacting the ground approximately 1/2 mile northeast of MO23. The aircraft was destroyed, and the pilot privacy data omitted received minor injuries. privacy data omitted
