From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) At cruise flight the pilot noticed that the control stick was beginning to catch on something as it was moved for normal flight operations. He looked for an airport with the intention of landing to have the controls checked. He noticed Blairstown Airport and made a turn toward the airport. At that moment he lost all elevator control with the stick. He managed to get the aircraft on the ground safely at the airport after a very hard landing. The mechanic on the field inspected the aircraft and saw that the elevator control bolt had come out of the rod end location and no nut was found.
