From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft was on a ferry flight to test the autopilot. After completion of the autopilot test the pilot proceeded back to lee runway 13. After lowering the flaps the pilot lowered the landing gear. When the landing gear was down the pilot had three lights in the green, indicating that the landing gear was down. The landing was smooth with no crosswinds. About 1000FT the right gear collapsed and the aircraft slid for about 300 ft. inspection of the aircraft by the FAA revealed that the down lock broke on landing. The aircraft had prop damage on right side and the right landing light was also damaged. The right aileron and wing had minor damage. The right down lock broke in two pieces. Investigation revealed metal fatigue. M & d report will be submitted.
