From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 3/17/06 at 0700, the pilot privacy data omitted was taxiing N180XV, a CE-180 our for takeoff at Garfield county regional airport located near Rifle, CO. It had snowed at the airport the day before, and there was a line of snow along the edge of the taxiway that was left by the snow plow. While taxiing to runway 26 the pilot states the aircraft hit a chunk of ice on taxiway A-5 with the left main landing gear wheel near the edge of the taxiway, causing the aircraft to turn to the left, and depart the taxiway striking the snow pile with the aircraft ending up on it's nose. This damaged the prop, the spinner and the engine cowl. The airport manager and the pilot stated the taxiway was dry with snow on the edge of the taxiway. The pilot further stated it was just getting light at 0700 and he did not see the chunk of ice on the taxiway. The pilot was counseled on the importance of situational awareness and taxiing slowly and carefully with limited light.
