From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During logging operations the pilot dropped the load and notified ground crew that he needed to go to service and would be right back. Witnesses stated as the helicopter flew away it sounded like it lost power. The pilot radioed that he was in trouble and said to say good-bye. The helicopter rolled left and impacted the ground in an inverted position coming to rest on its left side. Wreckage was contained in a small area. There was no post crash fire. 80 gallons of fuel was verified remaining. Tear down revealed severe damage to the reduction gear box.
