From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Operator maintenance control center at oak, notified the FAA that upon landing, maintenance personnel performing their post flight walk-around inspection, reported the number 2 engine core cowl missing from the aircraft. Aircraft had departed ewr (Newark int'l) and flown direct to oak. Operating flight crew was interviewed, and reported no anomalies with the performance of the aircraft. The operator maintenance base was notified in Newark, NJ. The missing cowling was subsequently located in a field on the departure path of Newark, int'l airport, where it apparently landed after departing from the aircraft.
