From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot privacy data omitted stated he was on a "short" cross country flight from the bloomsburg airport (N13) to the hazelton airport (hzl). He stated he landed on runway 28 without incident and had lunch. After lunch he decided to conduct some takeoffs and landings at hzl. During the first landing on runway 28 he approached with full flaps at approximately 60 KTS airspeed. During level-off, he stated he ballooned, held the nose of the aircraft up, and landed flat at a higher than normal rate of descent. As a result of the impact, the nose landing gear bent forward, causing the engine mounts to crack, and damage to the firewall. The nearest weather reporting station is the wilkes barre/scranton airport (kavp). Weather at the time of the accident was reported as clear with 10 miles visibility, winds were 230 at 11 with no gusts reported. There were no reported injuries.
