From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) After takeoff from runway 18L at mdh, the landing gear was retracted and the pilot heard a loud bang. The tower confirmed that the main gear had retracted but the nose gear was still down. The cockpit indicated a gear unsafe indication so the pilot selected gear down. The main gear extended and the main gear green lights illuminated but the nose gear green light was not illuminated, and the gear unsafe light was still illuminated. The pilot tried the POH emergency procedures and some high g maneuvers were performed but the gear unsafe indication remained. At this time the pilot elected to declare an emergency, and an uneventful landing was made. This incident is closed with this report.
