From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) N732RA was observed, by residents, flying overhead straight and level with the sound of the engine continually cutting out and then starting back up. After the aircraft flew overhead, it began to make a right turn, described as a spiral, circling twice and losing altitude. As the aircraft completed 1/2 of the third complete turn it descended below the line of sight and impacted the ground. Witnesses noted that the sound of the engine running was heard when the sound of the impact was noted. Black smoke was observed immediately after the sound of impact. Post-accident fire completely consumed the aircraft and surrounding vegetation.
