From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The accident was initially reported to the chicago dupage FSDO by an anonymous caller after the date of occurrence. The south bend FSDO received this report on may 16, 2006. The pilot removed the wreckage and transported it back to his hangar in Illinois. It was reported that the pilot landed the helicopter in a field to take items to one of his truck drivers who went into a ditch. Upon returning to the helicopter, he noticed the RPM was starting to increase on its own. Shortly thereafter the helicopter rolled onto its right side with the main rotor and tail boom damaged. He and one of his truck drivers loaded the helicopter onto a flatbed trailer and transported it back to his airfield. privacy data omitted
