From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During departure at Long Beach airport, runway 25R, just after liftoff, the pilot reported he felt a wind gust which kept the aircraft from climbing and lifted the left wing. The right wing dipped down and the tip tank struck the ground. He stabilized the a/c, throttles moved to idle and settled to the runway. The a/c then started to skid westbound on 25R and then veered onto the grass just east of the perimeter road. He then turned the aircraft to the left to prevent hitting the fence line and the aircraft stopped on the perimeter road.
