From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The center torque linkage connecting bolt assy was not installed properly by maintenance personnel which resulted in the aircraft left main landing gear twisting and rotating at least 90 degrees when the aircraft touched down and eventually resulted in the gear shearing off at the top of the barrel piston causing the aircraft to slide off the runway. The aircraft was said to be crabbing to the right due to a light crosswind which put a side load on the tire at touch down. The twisting force appears to have been enough to cause the center torque link to separate over the nut end of the bolt.

As the FAA filed it
